Travel Ban, Detention and Refugees
Israel has banned Jewish Voices for Peace from entering the country along with nineteen other organizations in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction movement. (BDS). And a member of their own Knesset has been told that he can’t formally accept an invitation from JVP to speak in the U.S. Really. He’s appealing to the Israeli Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, funding has been cut off for the UN Relief and Works Agency, which oversees the Palestinian refugee camps and I read today that Saudi Arabia will not allow Palestinians to enter the country to visit the holy sites. Could someone tell me what’s going on?
Detention continues to make headlines. More than 1,000 children separated from their parents are missing, location not yet known, and the U.S. is limiting refugee incoming to 30,000 for the year. This when there are more than a million refugees worldwide fleeing war, violence, famine and drought. Devastating.
