Have any of you been on a mission trip?   In state?  In country? Out of the country?  Where?  What was the result of the trip and what did you do while you were there?

I ask because I wonder what such a trip does for you and for the people you visit.  As I read about people making a difference, it’s sometimes hard to measure the outcome.   Young people I’ve met have spent many thousands of dollars to work with an organization that sends them around the world for a year.  They come back with an appreciation for what they have – a car, a roof, food, and a job – and the realization that millions of people have nothing. Is that the point of the mission?

Someone asked my refugee friend what was significant to her about our country. Freedom she said. You can leave your house and go wherever you want.
