To a Syrian grandmother living in Lebanon, a USA for UNHCR donation lifted the burden from her shoulders. She shares a small apartment in Jordan with her husband, who is bedridden with Parkinson's disease, and her son's family, including several grandchildren. Without assistance she would be forced to beg or borrow just to buy medicine for her husband and make sure her grandchildren had food. "Life is very expensive here in Jordan" she says "Cash assistance is a great hep to us." Her family is thankful for blankets, but the cash assistance program lets her make the decisions on what her family really needs. She appreciates that. Donors are giving refugees a lifeline. Families who have lost everything get a new reason to hang on.
